The webinar will explore recent developments in food supplement regulation, consumer trends and practical approaches to establishing and strengthening effective regulatory frameworks.

Food supplements are used by millions of consumers worldwide to support health and wellbeing. As interest in nutrition and wellbeing continues to grow, there is increasing discussion and exchange of experiences on approaches to food supplement regulation and the elements that can support effective regulatory frameworks.

• FAO report: Presentation by Maura Di Martino (FAO, Agrifood Systems and Food Safety Division) on the report: Food safety in personalized nutrition - A focus on food supplements and functional foods.
• Consumer insights: Presentation by Dr Sara Davidson (Ipsos) of new global research on consumer trends, perceptions and behaviours relating to food supplements.
• Supporting regulation: Presentation by Simon Pettman (IADSA) on practical approaches and tools for establishing and strengthening regulatory frameworks for food supplements.
• International panel discussion: Bringing together experts from different regions who have been directly involved in the development and implementation of food supplement regulatory frameworks. Panellists will share practical experiences and lessons learned in developing effective regulatory systems and discuss considerations that may be relevant for other countries exploring similar approaches.

• Tiago Lanius Rauber: Specialist in Regulation and Health Surveillance and Coordinator of Food Standards and Regulation, Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA).
• Prof. Dr Gülden Pekcan (Türkiye) Leading nutrition expert and academic with extensive experience in public health nutrition, food policy and regulatory development.
• Dr B.H. Lim (ASEAN): Expert in health supplement regulation in Southeast Asia, with more than two decades of experience supporting ASEAN harmonisation initiatives and regional regulatory discussions.

The webinar will be moderated by Steven J Wearne, former Chairperson of the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
